Emperor’s Scroll
Qing (Ch’ing) Dynasty

Since 1315, a regulation stipulated that only the emperor could wear a two-horned, five-clawed dragon motif. It was then that the dragon became a symbol of power. This beautiful imperial dragon painting is mounted on a long silk scroll. The image displays bold brush strokes over delicate red and gold detailing. I purchased this piece at the Pok Art House and it has been in my care and personal collection since 1975.
