I have been painting abstract works periodically for over forty years. Rather than have an idea in mind, generally I have some yet to be understood mass of emotions that compel me to paint in the abstract. Occasionally, as in the 70’s a new media such as acrylics then led me to paint hard edge works. Now having well over 10,000 hours of practice in a single activity that scientists believe is required to get into the zone-I call it being on automatic. I agree with Picasso’s statement at that level of doing, “I do not seek but find." I have no doubt that I will continue to do abstract works for the rest of my life.
Art like beauty may well be in the eye of the beholder. However, the intrinsic value is not subjective in the objects that last. - Sara Larkin
